Opening Night! is filled with visual experiments, explorations, and rituals that celebrate the intersections of Blackness.
BLACKNESS IS EVERYTHING
Alba Roland Mejia
Blackness is Everything is an experimental/performative short film that celebrates the diversity of the Black diaspora in The Bay Area. Produced by BAYCAT Studio with funding from the Skoll Foundation.
Pandrog is an exploration of the subversiveness of the gender binary within the confines of Blackness. It is about Black people escaping the terms and identities created by western imperialism.
ODE TO ZIPPORAH
Ode to Zipporah is a ritual performance devised through a collaborative process that engages an intergenerational group of 4 Black women and a Black girl. The intention of this project is to honor the legacies of Black women’s resistance, and the ways that Black women have embodied liberation even while navigating captivity.
DREAMS AND STARS
Dreams and Stars is a collaborative video piece aiming to acknowledge and inspire audiences by speaking honestly to viewers about the constant onslaught of violent injustices around us, and the exhaustion and numbness that can come with absorbing it.
